The workshops at the MJEM are designed to provide the attendees with valuable information to enhance their job seeking toolkit and to provide helpful information and options to assist during unemployment. Workshop 1, Attire: Image Keys for Success, 10:00 am to 10:50 am
Facilitator: Dr. Rosalyn Simon, President & CEO, Simon & Simon Resources

Our workplace attire can sometimes mean the difference between advancement and job stagnation. This workshop will help attendees identify clothing styles that will enhance their career path and provide acceptable alternatives for specific business situations, functions and events.

 

Workshop 2, Essential Elements for Starting a Business in Maryland State, 11:00 am to 11:50 am
Facilitator: Mr. Kenneth Clark, President/CEO, Maryland / District of Columbia Minority Supplier Development Council

As the landscape of employment has changed over the past 18 months, one of the options for individuals to consider is starting their own business. This workshop will help existing business owners or individuals who are considering starting a business identify what is required to start and do business in the state of Maryland. This workshop will hone in on the specific items entrepreneurs must have in place to be compliant and successful Maryland business owners.

 

Workshop 3, Good Financial Moves During Unemployment, 12 noon to 12:50 pm
Facilitator: Mr. Ivory Johnson, Director of Financial Planning, Scarborough Capital Management

We might think that while we are employed it is the ideal time to focus on our financials but it is during unemployment where some of our most important financial decisions need to be made. This workshop will give attendees information on ways and strategies to help stretch their dollars during low or no employment.

 

Workshop 4, Key Job Search and Interview Techniques, 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm

Your choice of job search and interview techniques can make the difference between finding employment in a short time or an extended amount of time. This workshop will provide attendees with proven job search and interview techniques that can reduce the time and effort required to become gainfully employed.
